Disturbing Recording Reveals Moment Police Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault
One police sergeant that leaped to the assistance of a partner that was assaulted by a blade-wielder received the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a weapon to the throat of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a road collision in that location in summer 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.
"Officer attacked," the officer stated over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera video shared by the police department depicted Brown, wearing in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade extended.
He collided with the officer who tripped and fell to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground although being repeatedly struck with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a safe opportunity, bringing the struggle to an end.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "I need assistance on my neck now, I got knifed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell suffered multiple deep cuts to his neck and more cuts to his limbs and torso, whereas Sgt Foster received knife wounds.
The department stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stop his colleague's bleeding before paramedics reached the scene.
The new award follows subsequent to the three officers were granted internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the local officer association in early 2024.
They further earned a North West Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The responses of the entire team in the end saved themselves and ensured no civilians endured any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, as stated by the department.
